Eleven years on, the people behind every shipment, every assay sheet and every signed delivery slip.
Hector Flores founded Golden Age Mining Group in April 2014 after eleven years buying precious metals for a Houston refining group. The thesis was simple: small refineries and jewelry manufacturers were underserved by the majors, and the majors weren’t coming back. Build a deliberate, mid-volume supplier with old-fashioned documentation, and the customers would find you.
The first year was 14.6 troy ounces of silver and a borrowed pickup. By 2017 we had our first standing doré contract; by 2019 we’d opened the assay lab on Rundberg Lane. Today the company runs three contract mining sites, an in-house lab, a logistics desk and a buyer-services team — all still in Austin, all still privately held.
We have no outside investors, no roll-up plans and no second line of business. What we do is buy, refine and ship metal. That’s the whole company.

Founder & Managing Director
Hector spent eleven years at a Houston precious-metals refinery before founding Golden Age in 2014. He grew up between Laredo and San Antonio, holds a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from UT El Paso (2003), and serves on the supplier advisory committee of two regional trade groups. He signs every contract over 50 troy ounces personally — a policy he says he will keep until his handwriting gives out.
